The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa is a temporary residence route for qualifying non-EU/EEA nationals who work remotely using telecommunications technology for an employer or clients established outside Cyprus. It is not a permit to work for Cyprus businesses or clients.
The applicant must show stable net monthly income of at least EUR 3,500 after contributions and taxes, increased by 20% for a spouse or partner and 15% for each child. The current scheme is capped at 500 permits, so capacity should be checked when filing.
An employee provides a foreign employment contract and employer confirmation that work can be performed remotely. A self-employed applicant provides foreign client contracts or project evidence and the remaining current supporting documents.
The first residence permit is issued for one year and may be renewed for up to two additional years. Eligible family members can obtain permits for the same period but cannot undertake economic activity in Cyprus through their dependent status.
The Migration Department publishes an examination period of five to seven weeks for a complete application. This is a target, not a guarantee. Passport, income, employment or client, criminal-record, medical, insurance, accommodation, family and biometric evidence must follow the live checklist.
The holder works only for employers or clients outside Cyprus. A Cyprus customer, local employer, local executive role or a change in the real activity can require a different immigration and tax analysis. Company ownership does not expand the permit's work rights.
The permit itself does not establish Cyprus tax residence. A person must separately satisfy the 183-day rule or every condition of the 60-day rule, with any dual residence resolved under applicable domestic law and treaty. Non-dom status concerns SDC on dividends and passive interest and does not remove GHS, employment or business tax, foreign-source tax or filing duties.
The Digital Nomad permit does not automatically convert into EU long-term-resident status, permanent residence or citizenship. Each later status has its own eligible categories, residence-counting rules, absences and application.

Category F is an income-based immigration permit under Regulation 5 of the Aliens and Immigration Regulations. It is not a visa and must not be confused with the separate Regulation 6(2) investor permanent-residence policy.

Every EU, EEA or Swiss citizen living in Cyprus for more than three months must register for the Yellow Slip within four months of arrival or face a fine of up to €2,500. This guide sets out the MEU1, MEU2 and MEU3 routes, the documents for each applicant category, where to book in your district, the €20 fee, processing times, how to check your status by SMS, and what changes after five years.

“I have been using Polycarpos Philippou for both my temporary residency visa application and for my house purchase. Nikolas and Laura both worked very hard to achieve the former, which has just been successfully submitted, and the whole process was a pleasure. Equally, Ioannis and Anita are ensuring my house purchase is running smoothly. I have no hesitation whatsoever in unreservedly recommending Polycarpos Philippou & Associates.”
