Tax registration is not one universal form. A Cyprus company, partnership, self-employed person, employer and VAT-taxable business can require different registrations, accounts and effective dates.
Identify the legal person earning the income, commencement date, business address, directors or owners, accounting period, employees, expected supplies and cross-border footprint. Incorporation at the Registrar and registration with the Tax Department are separate legal steps.
Use the current Tax Department process and Tax For All for the relevant taxpayer and tax year. Keep incorporation or identity documents, authority, business description, contracts and contact details consistent. A company should not be registered as though its owner personally earns the turnover.
Cyprus's general domestic compulsory VAT-registration threshold is EUR 15,600, but threshold-free or special rules can apply to intra-EU acquisitions, cross-border services, distance sales, non-established suppliers and taxable activities. VIES, OSS or IOSS do not replace domestic VAT analysis. Determine place of supply, customer status, evidence and invoice treatment before the first cross-border transaction.
An employer must address payroll, Social Insurance and GHS obligations before paying staff. Directors, employees, self-employed persons and overseas workers are not interchangeable contribution categories. Work authorisation is separate from tax and payroll registration.
Maintain a calendar for provisional and final tax payments, company or individual returns, VAT returns, VIES, OSS, payroll, Social Insurance, accounts, audit or eligible review, HE32 and beneficial-ownership updates. The deadline depends on the tax year; for example, the Tax Department states the tax-year-2026 company return is due 31 January 2028.

“Fabulous service from everyone at Philippou Law. We moved here in July and had our immigration sorted with Nikolas and Laura, our tax residency, non-dom and the opening of our business was seamlessly done by Cleo, and we are also buying our house with them, where Maria and Elpida have been wonderful. Honestly I would not go anywhere else. Many thanks all.”
