For a move from Lebanon to Cyprus, tax, immigration and banking are three different workstreams. No law firm can promise that a transfer will clear, that a bank will accept a particular source of funds or that a Cyprus permit will end Lebanese tax obligations.

For a Lebanon-to-Cyprus move, legal ownership, ability to transfer and bank acceptability are three separate questions. Tax residence and immigration add two more. The plan has to preserve a traceable chain of funds, identify retained Lebanese tax exposure and select a Cyprus permit that matches the person's real activity.
Before signing for Cyprus property, subscribing for an investment or capitalising a company, ask both the sending and receiving regulated institution to confirm the acceptable channel, currency, intermediary banks, documents and account restrictions for the proposed transaction. Banque du Liban circulars and bank implementation can change; a historic transfer does not prove that the same route is available now. Monitor the Banque du Liban official circular register.
Build a transaction-level source-and-chain-of-funds file: original acquisition contract, audited company accounts, tax returns, sale or dividend documents, probate or gift evidence, historic and current bank statements, beneficial-ownership chart, translations and certifications. It should explain not only where the wealth originated, but every account and legal owner through which it moved. Cash, informal transfer systems and unexplained intermediaries can prevent acceptance even where the underlying wealth is legitimate.
Test Lebanese tax residence, Lebanese-source income, business activity, securities, real estate, pensions and succession obligations under the law applying in the relevant year. Cyprus and Lebanon are listed in the Cyprus Ministry of Finance double-tax-treaty table. The treaty can allocate residence or taxing rights where its conditions are met, but it does not replace domestic returns, withholding or evidence. A bank transfer and a Cyprus tax-residence certificate do not by themselves end Lebanese obligations.
Prepare a legal-owner and beneficial-owner schedule for deposits, companies, portfolios, real estate, trusts, foundations, insurance and pension rights. Check restrictions, encumbrances, inheritance history and valuation before a transfer or restructuring. Cyprus succession, forced-heirship or EU Succession Regulation questions depend on the asset and personal facts; they should be planned separately from tax residence and bank onboarding.
Cyprus tests residence by calendar year. The 183-day route requires more than 183 Cyprus days. From 1 January 2026, the alternative route requires at least 60 Cyprus days, no more than 183 days in another single state, an active Cyprus business, employment or office that continues through year-end and a permanent owned or rented Cyprus home. Keep travel evidence that also supports the Lebanese analysis.
A Cyprus residence permit is not tax residence. Where both countries' domestic tests are met, the Cyprus–Lebanon treaty residence provision must be applied to the actual home, personal and economic relations and other relevant facts, with the necessary certificates and returns in both countries.
An eligible Cyprus tax resident who is not domiciled in Cyprus for SDC purposes can receive the statutory SDC treatment for dividends and passive interest until deemed domicile applies. This does not decide whether a payment from a Lebanese bank, company, estate, portfolio or pension is legally available, correctly documented or taxable in Lebanon.
Employment, business, pension and rental income keep their separate Cyprus treatment. GHS/GESY, Cyprus property-related capital-gains tax, VAT and foreign tax can still apply. The published 2.65% individual GHS rate and shared EUR 180,000 annual ceiling must be applied once across covered income, after each Lebanese receipt has been correctly classified.
A Cyprus company should not be used as a receiving shell for a Lebanese activity whose people, contracts, premises and decisions remain elsewhere. Cyprus applies a 15% corporate income-tax rate from tax year 2026, but residence, permanent establishment, transfer pricing, beneficial ownership and treaty access depend on substance and facts. Document where directors decide, where services are performed, who negotiates contracts, how capital arrived and why each intercompany payment is commercially justified.
A Lebanese passport holder without separate qualifying EU/EEA/Swiss status uses a third-country-national route. Visitor, Digital Nomad, employment, Company of Foreign Interests, family and investor-permanent-residence procedures differ on work rights, employer, income, presence and documentation. Source-of-funds acceptance does not create residence or work rights, and a visitor permit is not a work permit. Check current Cyprus Migration Department guidance before committing to employment or a business structure.
Before acting, complete: a dual-country residence and travel file; a bank-by-bank transfer feasibility memorandum; a certified source-and-chain-of-funds dossier; an asset, debt and beneficial-ownership register; a Lebanese source-tax and filing schedule; and a Cyprus immigration/work-right analysis. Model the departure year, the first full Cyprus year and each proposed transfer, dividend, disposal or succession event separately.

A move from Israel to Cyprus cannot be assessed from a Cyprus day count alone. Israeli residence is fact-sensitive and focuses on the person's centre of life, supported by statutory day-count presumptions…

Polish tax residence can continue where either the centre of personal or economic interests remains in Poland or the statutory day test is met. A Cyprus address, company or certificate does not override those domestic tests.

“I have been using Polycarpos Philippou for both my temporary residency visa application and for my house purchase. Nikolas and Laura both worked very hard to achieve the former, which has just been successfully submitted, and the whole process was a pleasure. Equally, Ioannis and Anita are ensuring my house purchase is running smoothly. I have no hesitation whatsoever in unreservedly recommending Polycarpos Philippou & Associates.”
